St. John’s Cornerstone Newsletter Submission Guidelines

Article submission is encouraged. They should be written about upcoming events, opportunities for the congregation’s membership, or reporting about congregation events that have already taken place. The article must be consistent with the mission of the congregation:

The mission of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people through Word and Sacraments in worship, Christian education, caring and serving ministries.

Event articles should answer the 5 W’s: Who, What, When, Where, Why.

Articles should be written by the person who is submitting it. If another source is used as a small part of the article, for example song lyrics, the source must be cited. All submissions must include copyright permissions as needed.

Devotional submissions must be written by members in good standing and consistent with the teachings of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Submissions must be Christ-centered. They are limited to 400 words including title, Bible verse, devotion, prayer, and signature. Opinion pieces will not be published.

Article Submission and Deadline:

All articles and calendar items should be submitted to the church office by the second Friday of the month prior to publication. An email attachment in Microsoft Word format is preferred for articles.

Editing Permission:

All publishable submissions will be edited for theological content and clarity. They may be shortened due to space availability.

Submission does not guarantee inclusion in the newsletter.

Publication is at the discretion of the Senior Pastor and Ministries Coordinator.
