Youth Ministry

Join the Journey: Faith, Friends, & Fun at Youth Group & Bible Study!

Each Wednesday, we gather around God’s Word to grow together in Christ, build friendships, serve our neighbors, pray, learn, and enjoy time together. Our goal is to provide a welcoming place where young people hear God’s Word, grow in their understanding of Christ and His saving work, and encourage one another in the Christian faith.

  • Open Gym | 3:00–4:30 p.m.
All youth are welcome to hang out, play games, and spend time with friends.

  • Jr. Youth Group | Grades 4–7 | 4:30–6:00 p.m.
We gather around God’s Word, learn about Christ and His saving work, and grow together in faith and fellowship.

  • Dinner | 6:00–6:30 p.m.
A free meal is provided for everyone.
    • Help Feed the Hungry Youth!
We are looking for volunteers to provide simple meals for 15–20 youth on Wednesday evenings between Middle School Youth Group and High School Youth Group. Meals could include pizza, sloppy joes, tacos, chili, sandwiches, or anything simple you enjoy preparing. Don’t want to cook? Consider sponsoring a meal, ordering food, or making a monetary donation to help cover the costs.

  • Sr. Youth Group | Grades 8–12 | 6:30–8:00 p.m.
We gather around God’s Word, grow in our understanding of Christ, encourage one another, and consider how our faith shapes the way we live and serve our neighbors.

We know busy schedules can make weekly attendance difficult. Watch the church bulletin and newsletter for additional opportunities to gather around God’s Word, serve our neighbors, and enjoy fellowship throughout the year.

We serve our neighbors not to earn God’s favor, but because God has graciously saved us through Jesus Christ. Freed by His grace, we are called to love and serve others. As St. Paul writes, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10).

Youth Ministry News and Events

This year’s activities include a fall corn maze, Reformation potluck, Trunk or Treat, Portage Holiday Light Parade Walk, Advent and Lenten dinners, Christmas party, snow tubing, chili cook-off, mini golf, and service projects.

Thank you to everyone who donated pies for the Youth Group’s pie fundraiser at Concerts at the Portage on August 19!

Thanks to your generous donations, more than 48 homemade pies were donated and sold. Your support helped make the fundraiser a great success and will help our youth group with their ministry activities and upcoming events.

We are grateful to everyone who baked, donated, helped with the sale, and purchased a pie. Thank you for supporting the youth of St. John’s!
